Masterclass From Local Expert On Growing Orchids

We’re pleased to be able to announce an upcoming set of classes for our visitors to learn how to grow and care for orchids. They’re well known to be one of the more temperamental types of plants, and we all know the feeling when we realise we’ve forgotten to water something for weeks, only to find it dying and beyond help.

Local orchid guru William Morris will be coming in to see us over the second half of 2017, talking to our visitors about the tips and tricks he uses himself to grow some very impressive orchids.

Are We Watching You?

If you’ve now been to see us, thank you!

A few of our visitors have noticed that there a video cameras around the grounds which have been installed while we were closed before our grand opening. We’ve decided to tell you a little more about why they’re here, and why we’ve taken steps to install them. Firstly, as a result of the fire breaking out, we’ve spent a lot of time with the Fire Service, looking into things we can do better in future to prevent any problems or other disasters occurring. To be clear, we don’t have any reason to believe that there was foul play involved, but had we had cameras back then, we would have probably known for sure.

We’ve intentionally chosen to use camera fitters that understand what we’re about here, so have spent some time working with CCTV to find a solution that isn’t all about Big Brother, at least not for us anyway. What we’ve tried to do, is to use modern technology to not only enhance security, but to serve our visitors too. Very soon, we hope to be switching the cameras on, and they’ll be used not only by our on site security team, but also by visitors to our website. The idea is that you’ll be able to see what’s going on, even from the comfort of your own home. There’s a few exciting developments to come that are still under wraps, but one thing we can share is that most video cameras are not fixed, so we’re working on letting you control them from your web browser!

We’re really excited about this project, and hope you are too. As people have noticed the presence of the cameras, we thought it was important to explain why we’ve taken the unusual decision to make them so clearly visible, and in due course we’ll erect signage around the grounds to make people aware that they need to smile! They’re not switched on yet, so don’t worry, no-one’s snapped you yet.

All New Landscaped Gardens – Now Open!

After a much longer than anticipated absence, we’re finally back with our brand new website. Ananas are now back in action after the disastrous events of 2013 which caused us to close down for a little under two years.

The gardens are now open to the public once again, after a significant period of being closed, and there’s an all new look and feel to enjoy. We’re pleased to announce that we’ve added an all new play zone for children, including huge slides and adventure playground. There’s lots to do for all ages, so big kids can relive their youth climbing in the trees and plummeting down the death slide in the barn area.

Of course, we still cater for our nature loving guests as we always have done, and with the experts from our local area and focus group we’re very impressed with the results. There’s now three clearly marked routes around the park, featuring a two mile, five mile and ten mile footpath to enjoy, while taking in the beautiful countryside that Ananas is set in, as well as the countless flower bed, lawns and sculptures that line the footpaths.

We really need to thank the residents in the local area for putting up with all of the renovation work that has been going on over the last few years, whether that’s the builders skips being delivered from Doncaster or the workmen coming to work every morning to transform our parkland into the wonderful result we see today. If you live within a three mile radius of the park, please make yourself known to our team upon arrival, and we’ll be pleased to arrange an annual pass for you and your family to use by way of a thank you!

As you know, we pride ourselves on looking after our guests, so are looking forward to having the opportunity to meet each and every one of our visitors over the coming months until we close for the winter. It has been a very long road to re-open, but we’ve finally got there, and eagerly await our next meeting.

Once again, thanks for putting up with the extended wait, and we hope you’re as excited as we are about your next visit!
